Sedan, SUV or Sprinter: choosing the right vehicle

Black Mercedes-Benz E-Class executive sedan on the road

The right vehicle is not always the biggest one. It depends on how many people are traveling, how much they are carrying and what the day feels like. This guide compares the Executive Sedan, Luxury SUV and Executive Sprinter so you can choose with confidence.

When you request a private car, one of the first questions is which vehicle to reserve. It is a practical decision, but it also shapes how the ride feels. A sedan feels personal and discreet; a Sprinter turns a group transfer into part of the occasion. Here is how to think about the choice across our fleet.

The quick comparison

VehicleGuestsBest forLuggage
Executive SedanUp to 3Airport transfers, business travel, a quiet evening for twoLight to moderate
Luxury SUVUp to 6Families, small groups, extra luggage, winter weatherGenerous
Executive SprinterUp to 13Wedding parties, corporate groups, wine tours, cruise groupsDepends on headcount

The guest counts are the maximum, not the target. A vehicle that is full to capacity with bags on laps is not a comfortable ride, so it often makes sense to size up.

Executive Sedan: discreet and composed

The Executive Sedan is the natural choice for one to three travelers. It is the classic corporate car service vehicle: quiet, understated and easy to position at a hotel entrance or an office lobby. For an airport run with a couple of suitcases, it is usually all you need.

Choose the sedan when:

  • You are traveling alone or as a pair, perhaps with a colleague.
  • Luggage is modest: carry-ons plus a checked bag or two.
  • You want a low-key arrival at a meeting, a dinner or a hotel.
  • The occasion calls for privacy, such as a first look on a wedding day.

Luxury SUV: room to settle in

The Luxury SUV carries up to six guests and adds something the sedan cannot: space. Families with children, travelers heading to the mountains with ski bags, and small groups who would rather not sit shoulder to shoulder all find the SUV more relaxed. It is also a sensible choice when three travelers are carrying a lot of luggage, since the extra cargo room keeps bags out of the cabin.

Choose the SUV when:

  • You have four to six guests, or three with substantial luggage.
  • You are picking up a family from Sea-Tac with checked bags and car seats to discuss.
  • You are heading out for a full day on the Eastside or in wine country and want room for purchases.
  • Seattle’s wetter months call for a little extra comfort on the road.

Executive Sprinter: the group moves together

The Executive Sprinter carries up to 13 guests and changes the character of group travel. Instead of splitting a wedding party across three cars, or asking a team to coordinate rideshares after a dinner, everyone rides together, talks together and arrives together.

Choose the Sprinter when:

  • You are moving seven or more people, or a group that wants to stay together.
  • The day includes several stops, such as a wine tour or an event itinerary.
  • You are transferring a cruise group between the airport, a hotel and the pier.
  • A corporate team is traveling between offices, venues or an offsite.

One caveat: a full Sprinter leaves less room for luggage. For a cruise or airport transfer with thirteen travelers and their suitcases, share the bag count so we can recommend the right setup. Our group transportation page covers larger plans.

Thinking about luggage honestly

Luggage is where most vehicle decisions go wrong. A quick rule of thumb:

  1. Count every bag, including carry-ons, garment bags and strollers.
  2. Flag anything oversized: golf bags, skis, instrument cases or large cruise suitcases.
  3. If the bag count is close to the guest count or higher, consider sizing up one vehicle.

When in doubt, share the details with your request. It is far easier to suggest the right vehicle in advance than to rearrange on the curb.

Matching the vehicle to the occasion

Beyond headcount, the occasion matters. A board member arriving for a meeting will appreciate the discretion of a sedan. A family reunion will enjoy the space of an SUV. A bachelorette group on a Woodinville wine tour will have more fun in a Sprinter. And on a wedding day, many couples combine vehicles: a sedan or SUV for the couple and a Sprinter for the wedding party.

The right vehicle is the one where nobody feels squeezed, rushed or left behind.
